Welcome Yeison Landero, grandson of the legendary Andrés Landero, El Rey de la Cumbia, to Le Mondo this Thursday, October 2! Opening and closing the night is Valentina, an all-vinyl DJ based in Baltimore.

Cumbia runs in the veins. Yeison Landero carries the pulse del caribe Colombiano in every breath of his accordion. This is a legacy of sound—raw, alive, and meant for the dance floor. From el Carnaval de Barranquilla to the Hollywood Bowl, Yeison turns stages worldwide into sweat-soaked celebrations where past and future collide in rhythm.

On the turntables, Valentina’s bringing their all-vinyl brujeria of sound, digging deep into rare finds to get your body moving and keep you guessing. Their sets hit like a spell: irresistible, unpredictable, unforgettable.

Yeison Landero

Yeison Landero (The Heir of Cumbia), is one of the leading exponents of this internationally recognized style of Sabanera Music from the Montes de María Region in the Colombian Caribbean. The grandson of the legendary Andrés Landero (The King of Cumbia), he continues the legacy and brings the genre to new audiences with an authentic and vibrant approach.

Yeison’s career includes performances at some of the most important festivals and theaters across the Americas, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, including The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, and The Festival de Orquestas at the Barranquilla Carnival (where he was awarded the Congo de Oro in 2023). Landero also represented Colombia at The World Expo Dubai 2021 and The Global Environment Summit COP16 held in Cali, Colombia in 2024.

As the creator of the International Cumbia Fest, and founder of the Fundación Landero Vive, Yeison actively works to preserve and promote Cumbia, fostering new generations of musicians and performers nationally and internationally. With his accordion and compositions, Landero continues to expand the sound of Cumbia Sabanera globally, establishing himself as The Leading Voice of Colombian Cumbia today.

Valentina is a community organizer and DJ, creating space and opportunity for artists & musicians for over a decade. Digging in their favorite record stores for over 12 years they have curated an arsenal of the obscure and evocative. Educating dance floors with their all vinyl sets Valentina is guaranteed to keep people guessing what’s next as she crafts her brujeria of sound.
