About The Event
Le Mondo is stoked to welcome back RUMPUT to their stages for a night of crankies and shadow theater. This time, Rumput will be performing two commissioned works, plus their most recent play, Minotaur. Rumput will be opened by The Lantern Sisters. This will be a beautiful night of music, light, and storytelling you will not want to miss.
ABOUT RUMPUT
Richmond-based performance group Rumput will play music accompanied by a style of scrolling panorama artwork called crankies along with shadow theater. They will be performing two commissioned works from scrolling panorama artist Dani Iswardana and musician Danis Sugiyanto, both of whom are from Java. Rumput will also perform their most recent work: a shadow play called Minotaur.
ABOUT THE LANTERN SISTERS
The Lantern Sisters are a collaborative duo comprised of Baltimore-based multidisciplinary artists Katherine Fahey and Dan Van Allen. They make performances and tell stories through the arts of shadow puppetry, papercutting, and crankies (a bygone form of visual performance involving a cranked scroll of artwork in a box).
