YEAR IN REVIEW: Theater, Music, Performance Art, and Community at Le Mondo in Baltimore

Well, we did it! Another year of arts and performance programming is concluded here in downtown Baltimore on our little slice of weirdo heaven at Le Mondo. We want to thank all of our amazing artists and audiences who helped grow our community even stronger and bigger over the prior year. (Some arts highlights from 2022 are here!)

We got down, stripped down, stood up, went to space, held hands, rolled around, laughed out, cried out, and, at least once, wrapped a man up like a mummy and poured tons of sand all over the floor.

This all meant over 300 opportunities for artists to make, present, and sell work to over 3300 audience members in Baltimore. This year, we, of course, want to do it even bigger and better with you.

Join us in making more important, frivolous, ugly, and beautiful arts experiences here in 2024!

What art did we make together at Le Mondo last year?

In 2023, we created a home for over 75 art events including experimental theatre, dance, performance art, and music ranging from hip-hop and electronic to jazz and contemporary compositional works. We:

Brought in new theater from across the country and also hosted the relaunch of local Baltimore theater festival, Charm City Fringe

Created space for dance education and new dance works

Hosted film screening series and experimental video nights and multidisciplinary readings

Celebrated the legendary 100th session of Baltimore Boom Bap Society with amazing local musicians performing alongside rapper Lupe Fiasco

Expanded our international arts programming to bring you some amazing collaborations between local and visiting artists from around the world such as Baba Commandant and the Mandingo Band (Burkina Faso), Cachitas Now! (Argentina), Peni Candra Rini (Indonesia), and Ethiocolor (Addis Ababa, Ethiopia)

Thank you for helping us support more new local performance and interdisciplinary collaborations than ever before!
